 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Practice and Ease of Use

Why is this student bagpipe the best choice to start with?

Because it offers two instruments in one: the chanter can be disconnected from the bag and used with its dedicated blowpipe as a standard Practice Chanter (to learn fingerings at a low volume), or attached to the bag to practice playing a complete 2-drone bagpipe.

Is it suitable for complete beginners?

Yes, it is designed to guide the musician from their very first steps up to an advanced level. You can start by studying tunes on the chanter alone and then move on to the bag, managing the full harmonic accompaniment of the two drones.

2. Fingering, Tuning and Key

How are the two drones tuned?

The bass drone is tuned to D3 (one octave below the chanter's tonic), and the second drone is tuned an octave higher to D4. The octave interval between the two drones creates a rich and deep harmonic background right from your practice sessions.

What fingering system does it use?

It uses the standard open fingering system of the Piva Piemontese in D4 (440 Hz), ensuring full compatibility with traditional wooden models.

3. Materials and Maintenance

What are the advantages of plastic / Delrin materials for a student instrument?

The highly stable plastic structure makes the instrument virtually indestructible, immune to saliva moisture and temperature fluctuations. It requires no warming up before playing and maintains perfect tuning at all times.

What maintenance do the reeds require?

The synthetic reeds for the chanter and the two drones guarantee maximum stability, long durability, and do not require the complex maintenance typical of cane reeds.

4. Volume and Sound Performance (2 Drones)

What is the difference between the 1-drone student model and the 2-drone model?

The 2-drone model offers a more enveloping and complete sound performance: the harmonic blend between octave and bass enriches the chanter melody. It is the ideal choice for those who want to get used right away to the sound and pressure management of a performance 2-drone Piva.

Can I isolate one drone if I want to practice with only one?

Yes, you can easily close or plug one of the two drones to practice temporarily with a single-drone configuration.

5. Shipping and Included Accessories

What is included in the package?

The package includes the detachable chanter with blowpipe for independent practice, bag with bag cover, the two drones (bass and tenor), and a complete set of synthetic reeds. The carrying case is not included.
