The Practice Chanter is the essential learning tool used to master fingerings, grace notes, and tunes without having to manage bag pressure. It allows you to build muscle memory before transitioning to the full bagpipe.
Is it loud? Can I practice indoors or in an apartment?
It has a very low and discrete volume, specifically designed so you can practice at home at any time without disturbing neighbours or family members.

What key and fingering system does it use?
It is pitched in D and uses the same fingering system as the Hümmelchen. Everything you learn on this practice chanter transfers identically and without variation to our Hümmelchen bagpipes.
Is it suitable for complete beginners?
Yes, it is the absolute best starting point. It eliminates physical effort, allowing you to focus entirely on finger coordination and learning the music.
3. Materials and Maintenance
What are the advantages of the Delrin / plastic construction?
Delrin is a highly stable, virtually indestructible plastic material that is completely immune to moisture from saliva. It requires no warming up before playing, is easy to clean, and maintains perfect tuning at all times.
What maintenance does the plastic reed require?
The included synthetic reed is extremely durable and stable. It is unaffected by breath moisture, does not warp over time, and requires virtually zero maintenance compared to traditional cane reeds.

What is included in the package?
The Practice Chanter comes complete with a synthetic reed, ready to play. You can optionally choose to add or exclude the carrying case from the product options.
