It has the same fingering of the Hümmelchen. Recommended for the beginner and for experienced player. It is possible to choose the standard or fully chromatic chanter model. View the fingering to check the differences between the two models.
Thanks to the blowpipe, the chanter easily transforms into a practice chanter, offering two teaching tools in one.
The black delrin (POMC), plastic material, has a high stability, good sonority, and it's maintenance free.

Why is this practice bagpipe the best choice for beginners?
Because it offers two instruments in one: the chanter can be detached from the bag and used with its dedicated blowpipe top as a standard Practice Chanter (to learn fingerings and tunes at a low volume), or mounted on the bag to practice bag and blowing coordination.
Is it suitable for complete beginners?
Yes, it is specifically designed as a first approach to the Hümmelchen. It allows you to gradually master fingering techniques without the physical fatigue of blowing, before moving on to full practice with the bag and drone.
2. Fingering, Tuning and Keys
What fingering system and key does it use?
The Hümmelchen plays in the primary key of C (with a range of C4 - D5). It uses an easy-to-understand open German fingering system. Baroque fingering is also available upon request. The chromatic chanter version allows you to easily play accidentals and semitones, making the chanter extremely versatile.
Which instruments can I play along with?
The 440 Hz tuning allows you to play both solo for practice and in ensembles alongside diatonic accordions, hurdy-gurdies, flutes, and other acoustic or electric instruments.

What are the benefits of synthetic / Delrin materials for a practice instrument?
The high-stability plastic/Delrin finish guarantees maximum durability, resists moisture and saliva during extended practice, does not need to warm up before playing, and maintains pitch in any environment.
What maintenance do the reeds require?
The synthetic reeds for both chanter and drone require minimal maintenance and offer great long-term stability, unaffected by changes in breath moisture.

What is the difference between playing just the Practice Chanter and the full instrument?
When used as a Practice Chanter, the instrument has a very low volume, perfect for practicing at home at any hour. Mounted on the bag with the bass drone in D3, it delivers the volume and presence of a true 1-drone Hümmelchen, with a compact, clean, and focused sound.
Can I use it for lessons or to later transition to a wooden concert Hümmelchen?
Absolutely. This model was created precisely as an introductory instrument: it helps build muscle memory and bag pressure control, making the transition to a wooden concert Hümmelchen immediate and effortless.

What is included in the package?
The Practice Bagpipe includes the detachable chanter with blowpipe top for Practice use, the bag with bag cover, the bass drone, and synthetic reeds. The carrying case is not included.
When does the 4-week lead time begin?
The indicated waiting time begins upon order confirmation and the start of artisan production in our workshop.
